As always Pomegranate was wonderful. We’re regulars there and it’s near or at the very top of the best restaurants in Canberra. This was a birthday celebration and the 6 diners had the banquet - superb! One couple had recently been to one of the newest, trendiest, most expensive restaurants in town and rated Pomegranate much higher. We’ll be back in the New Year!

While the food was well prepared and served, I didn't feel it was as good as it should be at that price. We had the banquet, which included numerous courses, all okay, but little reached exceptional level in my view. Like so many places these days, we were served lots of proteins but almost no vegetables. Dessert was very good. More

Sublime modern mediterranean cuisine, engaging professional service, and a casually elegant decor and vibe with sophisticated artistic touches. A shout out to our waitress ‘Jesse’ who was charming and nailed all her suggestions so well. The whole floor and kitchen crew ran like a well oiled machine taking the right amount of time and care with a sense of calm and genuine enjoyment.
We highly rate the Moreton Bay bugs, duck ravioli, cowra lamb, fish of the day (Snapper) and any dessert. We have dined in many fine establishments here and overseas and rate this very highly for bringing together all the key elements required for a fabulous dining experience. We are certainly coming back here. Well done Team Pomegranate!!

Great service and delicious food. We got the banquet menu, where every dish was great. The staff were super welcoming and friendly - very professional and knew their stuff. The food and wine came quickly, and were all very tasty. The only small strange thing was they used the same main plate for all the different dishes - so the fish was mixing with lamb, mixing with the chicken etc. It would have been good to change plates between dishes. Overall - highly recommended

Overall, nice experience, nothing really special... It was a private and quiet atmosphere which may be good for some family dinner but just family should know that it will probably cost 100 per person easy 😅...Dishes were ok,portions are appropriate size not big not small...Staff were nice and polite, waiting between dishes was around 5 minutes which is not so bad.

Summary: Very enjoyable experience. Would love to try the banquet next time, looked very enticing.
The recently hatted Pomegranate Restaurant is on the ground floor of the formidable York Apartments in Kingston.
The inside reminded me of Ottoman cuisine but not as corporate. Still kitsch and romantic though. I would describe it as Australian/Turkish fusion.
The waitress was very brisk and quick. I didn't see her make any mistakes, but found her a tad unsettling. I felt there was something more I needed to say but she ran off too quickly. I used to be like this when I was younger and didn't understand why others were left perturbed.
The food was a solid 4/5. I enjoyed my entree of prawns, but my friend thought his zucchini fritters were undercooked and tasted of raw flour.
The converse was true for the mains: my friend enjoyed theirs but I thought my duck was gamey. It was 2 large legs, (so a very generous potion) but it needed more spuds, spinach and sauce.

Went to Pomegranate Canberra for a birthday dinner, but the service fell short. We ordered the set dinner for three. I asked to swap two desserts by adding $1 of each (based on the price different on the menu), and the waitress replied' yes, you just pay the difference'. However, when desserts arrived, senior staff member then told us the set menu dessert value was $10, and we needed to pay $10 extra each for the changes. Although this conflicted with what the first waitress said, I agreed to pay to avoid further issue. But minutes later, the waitress (did the order) returned to re-explain the situation, contradict herself, and seemed pressured by the other staff. She also implied I had been given a special favour and acted frustrated when I pointed out the original miscommunication 'adding $1'. This final interaction made the situation unnecessarily stressful. Food was ok, but for the price point, I’d recommend Louis or Vincent over Pomegranate. If the team is short-staffed, I suggest hiring more rather than rushing and confusing customers.

We booked online which was easy. Getting parking is also easy but it is street parking.
We walked in and were seated instantly. They brought menus and explained the specials.
We got the duck, a side salad and the lamb special. We also both got a coke.
The server was very friendly and kept our water topped up. He helped us with any questions we had and checked on us.
The food came out quickly and looked amazing. Unfortunately my duck wasn't really hot, it was just luke warm.
However the flavours were pretty damn good. Portion size was okay but still small for the price.
Overall the experience was positive but I really don't think the price matches the quality. Probably won't be back.

A wonderful experience for my birthday. We were greeted by the owner and his staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Our food choices were beautifully presented and delicious and our wine choices by the glass of good quality. This was the first time for many years that I had eaten spatchcock, one of the reasons for booking there, and it was tender and tasteful. The snapper for my wife was perfectly cooked and, together, we were very pleased to have made this choice of restaurant and its food. One very small irritation was a group of 3 men, who should have known better, whose alcohol consumption got the better of them and may well have disturbed the evening of those sitting close to them. Other than that, a lovely evening and a note to ourselves to book again when next in Canberra. Thank you.

I surprised my partner by taking her out to dinner for our 11th anniversary. Thank you Pomegranate for giving me enough points to make it through to our next anniversary 🤭.
The menu at Pomegranate is not huge but there is just enough to cater for meat, seafood, poultry and vegetarians. It’s actually hard to choose what to have as it all sounds yummy.
I looked at the menu and thought the prices of the mains were kind of at the top of the range. I now realise the dishes we ordered were designed for 4 people to share.
I said not huge menu, but everything they do is done to perfection. We were impressed with every part of our meal. The quality of the ingredients was top notch, the cooking was
perfect and the flavours were amazing:‘moussaka’ prawns
and Moreton bay bugs for entrees followed by confit duck (2 Maryland pieces!) and Cowra lamb cutlets. Yes, we had dessert and it was spot on too.
Our cocktails were delicious along with great service. The crew didn’t get in our face checking on us every 2 minutes🙄 but still made sure things arrived at the table according to our pace.
After eating at Pomegranate, I want to go back soon and work my way through the menu.
